It has nothing to do with the camera, it depends on the video file format, this are the formats that will get you the highest quality on youtube:
- MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
- 320x240 resolution
- MP3 audio
- 30 frames per second

Just curious, what camera do you have, and did you buy it solely to tape yourself and put it on youtube? Anyways, about the video quality. In order for people to watch video over the internet, it needs to be super-compressed, otherwise, we'd be dead before it finished loading. Just let me say here that if all you wanted to do was to tape yourself for youtube, HD was major MAJOR overkill. Youtube's standard is 640x480. Anything smaller than that gets upsized. Anything bigger, downsized. Now in theory, HD video, when downsized, should look perfect. But depending on what codec you used (which I cant help you with, because you didnt mention it), video will either look perfect, or like a piece of ****, even at the same file sizes. For me, I find that windows media's codecs usually work great for me. Quicktime is a good format, but choosing between the subcodecs is confusing, and I use it only when I want uncompressed video. So try some different codecs (windows media 9 if I were you), then look at the video. Chances are it should look okay (notice I didnt say perfect), and still have a relatively small file size. If you mean bad quality as in the quality of a windows media codec, then I cant help you. There is no way to get artifact-less crystal clear HD quality streaming (keyword: streaming) video over the internet, at least for most people anyways. Hope this helps!

I don't think you have a problem with you camera there. Youtube lower the quality of your videos because higher quality videos consumes a lot of internet connection source.

You cant get high quality videos on you tube. You are going to have to use a different video site that offers higher quality.

hi Ishino! if ur posting vids to sites like youtube, myspace etc, u don't need the high-end camera. the vid sites process/compress ur vids and u have little control of the finished product. u also need to experiment with compression settings - gotta find the sweet spot.
I just put my vids on http://www.livevideo.com and I'm very impressed with the quality. u can pick ur own thumbnail... awesome! but of course yahoo! is the best ;)
You're a good candidate for vid podcast on iTunes - u host ur own vids so u can publish high quality. I use a $499 sony handycam for my vid podcast; you can check it out on iTunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=183309259
