and then maybe later on thruog the week i wanan copy the files back onto the camera to view on tv or when im out and about, but the files wont transfer back across, i havent altered them, it keeps saying the disk is write protected, how can i get round this

There are two type of discs

r - that means that you can write (burn) on this ONCE and read
(play) this disc.


rw - you can Read and Rewrite on this disc.

You may be trying to transfer files to a disc that is full.

You may be trying to rewrite on the same disc. You can not add files on a r-disk, then if you try to delete and add, you will get the write protected warning.

Then if you have a -RW disc will not work with a +RW disk.

Also does your HDD play both formats of +/- disk. In the good ole days, they had players that played only one format either the -R disk or the +R disk. Now the newer ones play either format. So if you had maybe an old HDD disk this may be the problem.

Newer JVD HDD can record, but you did not give the model and hard to diagnose with the model number. Otherwise, read the instruction manual.
