Ok.. so I'm going on vacation and I need a new camcorder. I want a MiniDv, entry level camera. $250/$300. I've been looking for a week now and read a bunch of reviews and I'm just more confused than I was when I started. I just want to know which one any of you would recommend. I really love night vision I want that, and a high optical zoom (not too worried about digital), decent picture (for the price), and the ability to connect it to my pc! Any suggestions from people who know what they're talking about would be greatly appreciated!

I just got a new HP laptop for Christmas and when I plug in the JVC provided USB, it does not recognize it. I try to manually add it, but it is looking for a driver - I didn't get any driver with my camera and the JVC does not offer any. Any ideas on how to resolve my issue? I know a firewire is best for this project, but I do not have a Firewire port on my computer, so I am stuck using the USB to transfer.

OK, I just bought it and crap and I can' find the frickin' USB driver for it. Now, there is something about a FIREWIRE cord, but I don't know what they is, do I need to buy it and does it cost money to install firewire on my computer, is there anyway to bet the video transfer done?

My movie I made lasts around 50 mins, and has been divided by the computer into chunks of around 1 gigabyte each, and theres about 5 of these, so basic maths tell me that my movie is approx 5 gigs long lol, anyway, I want to put it onto CD but to my despair I noticed my CDs only hold 700 mb...

Is there any way I can make the movie so small it will fit on, il be pleased even if i can get it onto 2 CDs but I dont particularly want to waste 5...

Or does anyone know where I can get bigger CDs, how much they are, where get them from, and how many gigs they store?

Thankyou ever so much !! xx

My Sony DCR-TRV120 hi8-digital8 camcorder has stopped working again and I need a replacement camcorder. I have to have one that will play my existing hi8-digital8 tapes. Any suggestions? I would rather go to a miniDV but what could I do about watching my existing tapes? The only way I know to watch them is on the camcorder-is there some other way I can watch them? Also, I know the tapes can be transferred to DVD's by a photo store but it's about $30 a tape-does anyone know how to do it more cheaply than that? Thanks!

I LOVE making movies but no matter how hard I try, my movies end up looking like home videos. I'd like a more high-def camcorder or something with a better video quality (well, duh) that stays closer to reality light and color. I know that would be sosoosososo expensive but does anyone know any good camcorders like that for people on a budget?

I'm searching for a mini-dv camcorder to record high frame rate video, so without (software) post processing gives me a smooth, no flickering slow motion scene. does the Canon's XL-2 ,with it's multi fps setting, help me on that?
