I just got a new HP laptop for Christmas and when I plug in the JVC provided USB, it does not recognize it. I try to manually add it, but it is looking for a driver - I didn't get any driver with my camera and the JVC does not offer any. Any ideas on how to resolve my issue? I know a firewire is best for this project, but I do not have a Firewire port on my computer, so I am stuck using the USB to transfer.

The camcorder is only about 3 years old, so I doubt that it is an age thing. I haven't been able to find anything on the JVC site.

Check your Camcorder User Manual for help.
Windows XP has the basic USB drivers, but if your camcorder is an old model, it may need special drivers. Check the JVC support web site for any help as well. If you can't find anything, call JVC support for help.
