That is what puts the title of whatever your recording on the final film, so others know what you shot.

A titler is a function they had on camcorders back in the stone age when people didnt know what computers were, and thought it would be cool to create cheesy titles with their cameras. In other words, a titler=crap. Use your computer instead to make titles. They will look a lot better, and you will have a lot more control over the look. Or if you dont have a digital camcorder and cant connect it to your computer, that's still not an excuse to use the titler. Think of creative ways to make credits/titles. For example, if you were videotaping a birthday, you could get a cake and have them write "Jimmy's 11th Birthday", and then move away from the cake, show some balloons flying around, and go to a balloon that had "Starring The Smith Family", and then, actually start taping the party from that point on. You get the idea. Just use simple object and things to create interesting titles. Basically, all I'm trying to say is, don't use the titler. Hope this helps!

It enables you to put your own titles on your footage, like "Xmas 2007" they stay on for a short length of time
