I am attempting to capture video from my Hi-8mm camera. I have the A/V out cords plugged into a Zio CameraMate and that is plugged into a USB port on the back of my computer.

Thanks!

It's a little unclear where you are asking we start to answer this question. Are you saying that your computer doesn't recognise the set up you have? If so, I can't really help as I don't know what a Zio Camera mate is (I use a Pinnacle Dazzle Fusion device for transferring analogue video to the computer). Assuming that your system is recognising it, however, then you should have a free capture program in Windows Movie Maker (assuming you are using a PC, but I think Macs have a similar built in program) )

Um... Windows Movie maker? Maybe? Because its already included on your computer? So it would be free? Just a guess? Hope this helps?

tony,
Usually the hardware you buy brings with it a CD with the appropriate editing software to use.
Anyway, download "Virtual Dub". Choose a 32bit or 64bit version and have fun!!!
