I have a panasonic plasma tv that is HD ready. The digital picture is fantastic but i would like to see what difference HD would make before deciding to get sky HD. i dont currently get sky and would like to see if it is worth the cost. i do not have access to xbox 360 or a HD dvd player. is there a solution?

many years ago as a tv man i could repair many tv's in customers houses there were known brands and real wood cabinets some even came with circuit diagrams in the box.
now they are all made in foreign lands no circuits and if a main part has gone its scrap time even though the tube and other parts may still be ok
Why now with modern technology cant we have standardized circuit boards for all models which are interchangable and just have different case styles it would save an awfull amout of waste and mean a repair could be done if they all had standard boards per model type and you would not have to stock so many parts.
Do you agree or am i just being a silly old fart

Current thoughts are Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC or Tamron 28-75 f2.8 XR Di but would like some advice from anyone that has used these lenses or similar. Most photography will be outdoors.

The manual says that the very model that I own has the capability of Matrix Surround, Matrix Surround 2 and Link mode. The screen has either Link or Matrix Surround 1, not 2. It says it will cycle the three modes but on my specific stereo it won't. There is a 1 and a 2 that are dimmed in the background but I would like to know how to set it to Matrix Surround 2. Any Suggestions?

Before Ipods ruled the world, I bought an MP3 player when they were first out on the market. It's a 64MB player- I told you it was old. Anyway, I'm in the market for a new fangled MP3 player with video play back. I have never been one to follow a trend but Ipods seem to be the way to go especially since they have all these really cool accessories to go with them(docking stations with speakers, armbands for running, etc...). I do plan on working out with the player along with using it on long car rides (I can use the tape deck thing people use to use for CD players when they first came out), on planes, and on bus rides. But I have a ton of non-Itunes music. I would prefer one with a large memory (I was looking at a 30GB) but I've heard those don't work well with people who work out. I really need some good advice on which MP3 player to buy.

I just got my iPod about 2 months ago. When I listen to it, it seems the battery life is always never full. I am going on a trip to another state tomorrow, and I need to know this... I have about 130 songs on my iPod, if I cut the number of songs down, will the battery last longer? I already turned my backlight off to save some energy.
