I am buying a mobile phone from ebay. The set I am buying is 3 network but I want to use in different network than 3. Does it work, if I unlock the phone and use in other network?

the 6280 CAN NOT be unlocked if it is on 3.

If the phone was sold on a contract, then it will be registered under the original owners name, which means if you call customer servise from 3 (08707330333) they will not help you out, as they are the only ones that they can actually unlock the phone.

every smartiepans out there think that they know better and they try to unlock it, olny to find out in the end that they cant.

the 6280 is a crap phone anyway, i would suggest to avoid it all together

Don't buy a 6280 - I've had so many problems with mine!! I've had it back to Nokia twice and it was replaced 4 times in the first month of getting it.
Any phone that works on 3 will not be able to work on any other phone network. They are locked forever and ever to 3.

Don't know but would strongly advise you to steer clear of 3. Have two 3 phones ( cos they hardly ever work;my contract phone first broke after a week so bought pay as you go handset),and they've been nothing but trouble. I spend more time on the phone to their customer services than I do to my best friend or my boyfriend. They've repeatedly 'fixed' my handsets and sim card yet they still turn themselves off, delete numbers and frequently won't allow me to reply to texts or make out going calls and every time I call they claim there's nothing wrong.
Sorry,if this turned into a rant, but really wouldn't want anybody else to make the same mistake.
Know 2 people with 3 phones who have similar problems.
Good luck.

There is only one 3 handset that can be unlocked and accept other network sim cards, I can't remember what it is called but its about 2 years old.

All the others can only accept 3 sim cards.
