Software - October 2007

I could simply not find out how to empty the library of windows media player 11.
I followed a lot of tips after google-ing... eventually I uninstalled version11. and 10. now I still had a full library...

SO: I MOVED the LIBRARY from it's original location, from D drive to C drive...
then I asked media player to play all the music from its library... and let it find out for itself that it could no longer find the files...
that worked and then I finally got a window asking me if I wanted to empty the library from files it could not find....
Gee....
is there a better way?

Is the DVD ripper and converter Handbrake safe (and by safe as in not spammy or virusy)? Also, can it be uninstalled by just using an uninstaller included in the program?

My mom's going back to college and needs powerpoint for presentations since it'll be easier to use. They said to make it on your own computer then bring something to put it on theirs to project it. Problem is we don't have powerpoint. Is there a way to download it and transfer it from computer to computer? Thanks.

I used to think that Windows Vista sucked. I was wrong. Windows Vista doesn't suck; it blows!!! Anyway, I'm a musician. I didn't take into account before buying a new HP Pavillion that my music software would cost hundreds of dollars to upgrade. So I'm downgrading to XP. I have my data backed up. Now I want to know what drivers I must back up or either download before I start. I know I need the drivers for my audio card and graphics. What other drivers are necessary?

HELLO, i jsut got a new macbook and decidd o tranfer all my music to it. problem i connected ipod to sync then asked to restore and sync since it was wiht windows settings and music . i dont know what happended but somehow all my playlist on I-tunes got transfer to my ipod naem but dont appear on ipod appear on the computer with my ipod name . went back to my play lsit and as i clicked on a song a warning not finding any of the songs showed up and immediatelly a (!) appear on all songs . when i click above all my play lis where my ipod 's name is all my music appears and aim able to play it and hear it. did i created a folder and if so where is it how to i send all my music back .. it was so easy with windows i guess. it is too late now thank you

i keep getting a code 80072F8F is a time issue on when the updates are to occur on a daily basis . I have tired to go in a change the time manually , but nothing is working as far as getting the most current updates on my Toshiba laptop. What am i not doing to solve my little problem, or is it just vista in general.

For a presentation, I found a useful Windows Media Audio/Video file, but the first minute doesn’t fit. Is there a way to cut this footage off so that the video starts at 1:22? Thanks.

From time to time, I get the ActiveX control error. For example, I have been having Norton problems, and when I trouble shoot it with Norton's tech support options, the only thing it could be is... "security settings that allow activex controls and Java".

When I search out what to do about ActiveX, I learned the ActiveX control errors, can bog down my PC, cause it to be really slow and cause blue screens, and on and on. So the fix would be a registry cleaner according to what I read.

Does anyone know if this is at all accurate, if so, which registry cleaning software should I use? There are many free options online, the trouble is I don't know if it's free/free, or if they scan your PC for problems for free, then want you to buy their software.

hey all,

I haven't really seen very many good things on youtube for learning german or japanese, (except for emily), but i was wanting to make a video lesson thingy for either german or japanese.

i wasn't going to film myself , YET, but i was going to make like a slieshow sorta thing with lessons and either my voice and/or music.

waht type of program would you guys recommend to do this? i am really not sure what programs are good for this. I am preferably looking for something free for now, and then maybe later investing some if it goes good.

I just had my pc wiped out and reinstalled with xp. The guy used his disk because mine wouldn't work. Well now the new windows come up about the size of a 3x5 card. I have to maximize all of them every single time. He had me clicking on the blank part of the tool bar and I think they might be in cascade size. there is no undo there for this. I can't find anything else to fix this. PLEASE HELP

I've just reinstalled Window XP on my PC. What I'm noticing is everytime I'm loggin off and shutting down, it goes through a series of updates. Why is it doing it and how can I get it to stop? Thanks for your help!

I have Vista Home... with internet expolorer... and can not get the flash player to down load to my system.
I switched and use Firefox and then have no problem with the flash player but everytime I open the internet with firefox i have to redo the color adjustment cuz the screen is all messed up.
Is there a solution to my problems... I like Internet Explorer and really getting to hate Vista...
Is there an addition of I.E 7 that will work with Vista and can install the flash player??????

This is a follow-up question to my earlier question about spam.
Listen, there are enough of us out there that are extremely computer savy...don't you think if we all banned together we could stop the spammers? Maybe create some great program or something...that we could use and/or sell to the isp's etc.? There must be a way to stop the spammers someday!

I have a personal email address which I have never given to anyone or any marketing, or placed onto any listing.
But i continue to get spam (all types).
Where do these people get our addresses....does Yahoo or other email providers sell our info...or is it just blind luck that they hit an email address?
