No, it is not free. You have to buy MS Office. You can get cheap software if you are a student though.

Try looking for free word processing software. Google it.

You can get openoffice as was suggested, and is totally free, and many people like it better than word. Or, if you really need Microsoft word and you are a student and can prove it, Microsoft will sell you the latest version of Microsoft office for $60.00 on their website, Ultimatesteal.com. Personally, I think you're better off just getting openoffice for free. It's easier to use, and their support is far superior to microsoft. If ever you have a question about something, you just email them and within a day get an answer by one of their experts, and it's all free!

No Word is not free, I went and bought Microsoft Office, Home and Student. It was about 130 dollars. I know that sounds like a lot but it has power point, and like 2 other things on it that may be useful. I would if you can afford it, go and get it. Most businesses and so on use Word, so it maybe better to just go and pay the 130 and get it so you can have it and use it when you need it. I am glad I did, it has saved me a lot of trouble.

Microsoft furnishes a basic word processor with Windows, it is called WordPad.

If you need more features than WordPad offers, you can download and install Abiword, an open-source (free) word processing program. It has no spyware or adware attached to it and is often used in Linux distributions.
