Sync is a way to get one connected computer (and one particular logged in user) to apply the iTunes library as it is shown on that one computer (and that user) to your iPod and update the Music folder on your iPod to have exactly the same songs (no more, no less) as the Music folder for that one computer (and user). Avoid using Sync if you plan to use the iPod with more than one computer or more than one user.

Follow the steps in the article below beginning at "Backup any music that's already on your new computer" (more than half way down) and go step by step down to the end. I would copy and paste all the steps in this answer space but you would not see the pictures and they help quite a lot so just go to the Apple article and follow step by step.

If the music is on your iPod, use Senuti to move them to iTunes.
