Software - September 2007

My PC is slow at startup, is it good to run a registry cleaner? I thought I heard they were bad to run. Also, all my anti-virus stuff, spyware, degrag...etc is all ok...it is something outside of that.

It's a presentation for work, I have a Mac and they have PC. I'm not going to take my Mac in or anything so I just want a way to convert or to play on PC. Thanks!

This really sucks because I was going to buy one of those $449.00 laptops from Best Buy or Circuit City with Vista Home Basic and upgrade it to Home Premium but the problem is that they make the laptops with a Celeron Processer which CAN'T handle the higher Vista editions. I heard the best type of processor for Vista was a duo processor of any kind. This really stinks. It's like they don't want you to upgrade. I wish Microsoft didn't make a Basic version of Vista because it is so limited in what it can actually do. Look at the link if you don't believe me. Now I have to buy one of them $500-600 laptops because I really want premium because I do more then basic stuff on a computer. It really stinks for me because I'm on a budget of what I can spend.

I am looking for a formula that will change the cell if the date is greater than 6 months ago. e.g If I enter 1st June I need the cell highlighted from the following 1st December onwards.

i just got Medal of Honor Airborne and i installed it and when i play the game it is jumpy and doesn't play right on a laptop dell inspiron e1505 with:

Intel Core 2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz
1 Gb of RAM

but when i put it on my desktop a dell dimension 4550 with it runs fine.

what is the problem is it the software or the hardware?

ive been on sites and its saying things like " you either have a old version of macromedia flash player or you have javascripts turned off" but i tried it all reinstalled flash and the javascripts were allready enabled ,anyone help?? thanks

hey i use word for my homework so i click onto it and it comes up and the product id sign i suppose to come up really really quickly with the name e.t.c but it dont it frezzes with that still on the screen and if i click it again it goes leaveing a white screen i have tryied uninstalling it and everything do you know whta the problem could be thanks very much

i've downloaded music videos from different sites and i put them in my wmp10 library. how do i put them on a disk so i can play them in my samsung dvd player?is there something special i should do or can i just burn them to the disk like i do the music? thanks for all answers.

Every time I shut down or even log off user I get the message "Ending Program ccApp" then, "this program is not responding" I was going to remove it from the start menu but I don't know what it relates to. Any ideas?

hi i have windows XP on a fairly new powerful PC . i want to do work on linux now since i am fed up with the blokes in redmond . i love technology but dont know about writing codes in command lines etc . i can tinker with my BIOS and change my graphics card and update drivers and install windows . u get what i mean ....
my questions are
A ) i want to dual boot on a multipartition XP drive .
B ) which is a good free download of linux which is not too confusing
C ) i know i can get Skype etc for linux but can MS office work / if not any migration programs ?
D ) i have pentium D 820 ( 2.8 GHz ) .is it a 64 bit download of linux for it ?
please give me also some sites to help me migrate my life from Win XP to Linux over a period of a year or so ... thank you very much in advance ....ALL VALUES CAN GROW ONLY IN FREEDOM so no Microsoft for me from now ......

Trying to improve the speed of my boot up. I used "registryfix" to scan my machine and improve the speed. This cost me approx. £20 last year, I scanned this week and they say I had 30 prob's which was resolved. Machine no faster.On advice I loaded "regcure" who said I had 300 probs and for £20 resolved them.Machine no quicker. I tried a freebie "pointstone" who said I still have 300 probs but for another £30 would resolve them. What is going on?

it was on my old computer I have been working on I downloaded AVG scanner and it came up with a bunch of virus and it deleted all of them but this one and it said We recommed you restart your computer using an operating system from a virus-free system diskett or cd rom then use the AVG Rescue Disk and remove the virus by healing.
