=(D6/100)*119 gives the new total

or =(D6/100)*19 to give the percentage change

You would have to multiply by the percentage.

If D6 is the number 100, then 100 percent of D6=100. You want to add 19% to D6, so you're looking for the number 119.

In D7 you would type the following
=D6*1.19

The way it works is as follows:
D6*1=D6
D6*.19= 19% of D6 (19% is .19)
therefore, D6*1.19 is the same as saying D6+19% of D6.

You would need to calculate the percentage yourself. If you want 19%, you multiple the number by .19

So the formula in D7 would be = D6 + (D6 * .19)

You could also use =D6*1.19, which would give you 119% of D6. But the first formula is easier to understand what you are doing.

+19% of what? That's the problem. If 19% of D6, try =D6*19%+D5. Hope this is what you're talking about. If not, post back with what you're trying to get 19% of. Cheers!

=D6*(1+19%)

You need the 1+ for the formula to work

Try this in cell D7 (without the quotes):

"=D6*1.19"

=D6 * 1.19,

if you're trying to add 19% to D6.
