A website is a paid site while a blog is a domain. It is a part of the main site and has no individual address. Really, http://www.yahoo.com
is a website while
http://answers.yahooo.com
http://addresses.yahoo.com
http://mail.yahoo.com
http://messenger.yahoo.com
etc. are blogs.
If the main site (for his example Yahoo) is deleted all the corresponding blogs are also deleted

Actually, contrary to some of the above, a blog is NOT NECESSARILY a diary or journal. It's just a series of entries, which MAY be a diary or journal. I set one up for a client as an adjunct for their website. For them, it's a set of short articles, giving educational information on topics in which their group specializes. You may control who is allowed to view the blog. You may control whether or not viewers are allowed to post comments about blog entries. You may control the dates that the entries "appear" to have been posted (for example I can post one on 1/1/2006 but make it appear that I posted it on 1/1/1991). You can go into the HTML template of the blog and change its entire appearance. You can (or not) link to other blogs, and to your website (or not)...and like that. A blog, is just a page. A website, may be many pages.

First of all i would like to clear doubt of super answerer that domain are blog's, this is a total misconception.
please refer to the other answer's given and be sure about what you are writing before actually writing out.
In short blog canbe compared with online diary a place where you can write what ever you like.
where as a website is a much larger place. you have certain limitations but you don't have any limitation in website.
blog can be a part of website.
blog are predesigned you only fill the containts whereas the websites design is entirely yours.
hope this will clear yours as well as super answerer's doubts.

A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.
Some websites require a subscription to access some or all of their content. Examples of subscription sites include many business sites, parts of many news sites, academic journal sites, gaming sites, message boards, Web-based e-mail, services, social networking website, and sites providing real-time stock market data.
