Software - January 2007

ok here is a sequence of events.
#1 Open Windows media player
#2 Start song
#3 Listen to song till end
#4 song ends
#5 i get a pop up that sais windows media player has encounterd a problem.

This same error has happened probably 100 times now and i cant figure it out. This is what i have tried

I tryed: restarting the computer, deleting the WMP from the control panel and going back to WMP9 and updating again, going to the WMP homepage and downloading 11 to try to get it to rite over the errors, and i tryed deleting it from the computer all together trough c:/program files/ Windows Media Player (wouldnt let me).

Im very good with a computer 99% of the time and dont usualy have problems but feel free to state the obvious maybe there is somthing i havent tried. First one to solve my problem gets best vote :D o and a thumbs up.

Im writing an essay and whenever I got to edit it, if i start in the middle of a sentence and start to type, it deletes the other letters as I type.

What causes this and how can I prevent it???????

my volume control icon gone with the wind,i cant show it any more and after i went to control panel and opened sound and audio i tried to choose "place volume control on task bar" but whenever i try,the pc shows me an error that the icon cant be placed on task bar because the volume control program is not installed and if i want to install it i should go to add/remove programs.

what can i do?

I spent over 3 hours typing this, please tell me how to undo the save and get it back? I was typing up my second essay and saved over it on accident.... I still have the window open and I really need to find a way to undo it.

I downloaded a movie and watched it on winamp, worked just fine, now when I go to watch it the movie will start playing and I can hear it, but I don't get a picture. Strange thing about it is when I downloaded the same movie (x-men 3) from different sources the same damn thing happens, audio, but no visual. wtf??

I have formatted my hard and installed XP. After doing that I get an error. I can log on as Administrator but the moment I do that the mechine logs me off. I log off as soon as I log on. It's service pack 2. Whati s wrong with this. Is it software or hardware?
