You can do that in the BIOS if your motherboard has the options. If you don't know how to do this, you will most likely ruin your memory

to increase memory speed by a noticeable degree requires good quality ram and a good motherboard that allows tweaking the settings like bumping the ram voltage up a notch or two, then by increasing the fsb speed and overclocking u can increase the ram speed ... but cheapo ram can not handle much generally ... other than that if u have a dual channel capable board and u only have a single stick of ram u can get a second stick that matches the first and enable dual channel and that will increase speed alot ...

Are you referring to memory latency times? There are a number of settings which determines the memory speed. They are commonly called "memory latency times." These settings are saved in the computer's BIOS. You have to enter the BIOS setup to change them. You can do this by pressing the [Delete] key during the booting process - some computers might use another key, check your computer's manual. Changing the latency times is no simple matter. If you enterr the wrong settings, it will make your computer very unstable and might even crash it. There is an excellent article written by PC Stats which go over memory latency times. It is a good place to start and the guide does not use "computer geek" language. Here is the article:

A simple basic process is to use your disk cleanup & defrag.

Go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup--
Then go thru the same steps and choose disk defragmenter.

This is simple and amateur, but it makes a big difference. If you're using windows, windows is like a messy child. It pulls out files when you want them, but doesn't put them back where they belong. It just stuffs it anywhere so that the next time you need it, it has to look for it longer. Defrag puts everything back where it belongs. It should be a fairly routine task for you. I usually defrag at least once a month or more.

Very simply:

Lose the wallpaper and screensaver - set to blank or none.

Check out startup menu: load only those programs you actually use every day.

Delete temporary internet files: Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files

Regularly: run scandisk, disk cleanup, and defrag
