my volume control icon gone with the wind,i cant show it any more and after i went to control panel and opened sound and audio i tried to choose "place volume control on task bar" but whenever i try,the pc shows me an error that the icon cant be placed on task bar because the volume control program is not installed and if i want to install it i should go to add/remove programs.

what can i do?

Thats odd that the volume control would go away spontaneously.

Search your computer for the file sndvol32.exe and make sure it is in the \system32 directory under your systemroot directory (might be \windows or \winnt).

If you have your windows disk, you can open a command prompt and run the system file checker: sfc /scannow
