Software - December 2006

I am trying to download my camera software and it says the "riched32.dll" is not in the correct directory. Says to copy and paste it in the right place, which is C:\WINNT\system32 but I don't know how to do that. I thought i was pretty computer savy but I guess not.

I put the Gentoo CD with an iso file into my cd drive and it would not boot from it. It was the correct version- ia64 (intel architechtural 64 bi) - but i have no clue why it wont boot. all i want is to get rid of windows because it sucks big time. I want to make a samba pdc server out of the gentoo software. if anyone can help me pleaseeeeee do i really need it right about now.

The Windows Task Manager shows that the CPU of my computer was almost 100% used. But I only had one or two programs running. Were there any programs running in the background and not showing in the Windows Task Manager's screen and so I was not aware of? If it was, how I could close them down?

I am trying to mount an additional hard drive under /etc/fstab, but am having some trouble. I'm using Fedora 6, and am a little unfamiliar with the VolGroup00/LogVol terminology in fstab.
Below is the fstab entry with the sdc1 drive that I am trying to automount at boot.

/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
sdc1 /mnt/sdc1 vfat defaults 1 1
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 swap swap defaults 0 0

When I manual mount it, it shows up as sda1, and contains nothing. Very wierd. I appreciate any tips or advice. Thank You

I have the Windows XP from when it was first released. After recently reinstalling the program, I had to download Service Pack 2, numerous security patches and all the other updates. My question is would Vista take up less hard drive space than XP since Vista doesn't require all the extra downloads? Thanks.

My add/remove programs screen was damaged by spyware. How do I get all that extra stuff off there? We removed the spyware but the add/remove programs screen is still clogged with funny named programs. How do I remove them?
