Click Start, Run and type in "msconfig" without the quotes. This will open your Microsoft Configuration screen. Select the last tab called "Startup". Expand the center section labeled command and locate the one that has realplayer in the path or as an executable and click the check mark box next to it so that it is off. You can do this to most of your applications like Quicktime, Roxio, Etc.

When you reboot, the computer will give you a warning that some applications have been disabled at startup. Select the option to not see this message again and select ok.

If you find something is not working properly, repeat the process to turn some applications back on. I have almost everything turned off except anti virus, sound, video, and spy software and mine sure boots up faster.

go to the start button at the bottom left of your screeen, select "run" than type in msconfig, On the next screen select the "startup" tab and deselected real player, than click apply (you will have to reboot your computer). this will stop it from starting up when you turn your computer on.
