It is used to make a picture of your screen. You can use it for programs that won't print, or if you are having a problem and need to make a picture of the problem. It's really just what you really need it for. For example, you could make an instruction manual by taking pictures of the program in action and editing it into the document.

It is a program used to capture screen shots of a computer screen, capture some(not all) streaming video, and capture webpages.
It is useful for training and presentations.

It's almost the same as hitting your print screen key except you can edit and do alot more with it.
