My C:\ is 88% full. I've removed my documents and other personal files all that's left is the OS and my apps

You can remove anything you want and the drive will still funtion, however the OS probably wil not. Yes I know I'm a real comedian HA. But seriously if you right click on the drive and go to properties there is a disk cleanup tab. I don't know if youve already done that but it's all I know to tell you.

If you do a file search by date you can delete files that haven't been accessed for a while. Many files weren't used since the os was installed. Most of the necessary files can't be deleted anyway. Make sure you have your install disk handy just in case.

if you go to your control panel then Add/remove programs, on the left hand side is remove windows components. if you click on it, you can see which components are there. I hate windows messenger and safely removed it.It would be a good idea to back up you system files to disk before you try to remove anything.

I wouldn't remove anything. The best thing to do is to buy a bigger drive.

If you remove things, you risk crippling your PC.

None....delete all your cookies and temporary internet files.
