my PC is refusing the new MSN messenger 7.0 and i can't find any earlier versions ... the one i have now is 6.2 and it won't start ... it keeps telling me that i need to update it ...
is there a version that will run on my PC as it is now, or do i need to get the wole PC serviced (it's a back-up PC, just one at my other home where i go for holidays- so i'm not always using it - but it would be good if i could keep up with all my conacts)
i am not sure which version of explorer i am running ...
help please ??

i am running windows xp home edition, with no service packs installed yet. i'm about to install a new program that potentially could cause registry problems (or so the pop-up screen tells me) I'd like to know how to backup my registry first. i'd also like to know where exactly the complete registry file is kept, if anybody knows. thanks
