I have a bunch of pictures that i need to change the type of file that it is. Most of them are bitmap images and i need them to be JPEG images. What program should i use and where do i find it? It would be really great if the program was free. Thanks

I have had the best luck with a program called Irfanview. It's really simple to use, and the best part is if you need help, you can always email me and I'll tell you exactly what to do.

When I want to achieve this, I usually use the command prompt method follwoing these steps:
1) Know where exactly the path to your folder containing those images.
2) Open Start menu, and select Run
3) Type cmd, and hit Enter
4) The command prompt will open
5) go to the folder in step (1) by changing the location using (cd Driveletter:\folder path
6) When you are inside that folder, type: ren *.bmp *.jpg
"ren" goes to "rename"
the first "*" means rename all files with extension ".bmb"
the second "*" means rename to extension ".jpg"

Hope that it is not hard on you to do.

There is a cheap and easy way: Open the .bmp with Paint and then save it as a .jpeg format file.
