Ok first go to control panel.Then select the system option.From the system properties dialog box select the Advanced tab.Then select the Settings button of the Startup and Recovery option.Click on the Edit button in the Startup and recovery dialog box.A notepad doc will be opened.A list of all OS displayed during startupm will be shown.Now delete the OS which u want.But first see what ur default OS selection is.If it is the one which u want to delete then delete that line from the notepad doc which specifies the default OS option.The notepad doc will be something like the following:-
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

C:\="Microsoft Windows 98"

Well, it sounds like the only option you have left is to do a fresh install of xp. This time erase everything on your computer and start from scratch.

You're probably going to have to format your harddrive and start over from scratch.
