Software - October 2006

I'm looking to install linux on an intel 800mhz p2, 256 mb ram,20G HD. I'm not looking for a fancy desktop or games. All I'm interested in is a locked down secure webserver with at least mysql apache and php (lamp as I've heard it called).
Aside from being able to run on my current hardware my major concern is being hacked and having to reformat my box every two weeks. I plan on a dedicated webserver running one web page which total files will be around 5gb.
Any suggestions?

anyone know a way round it,its cracking me up.i got xp sp2 from power house.but windows reckon its not genuine.it came preloaded from store but of course power house bust.no disc or code.but they wont believe me. in their eyes everyones conning them.EBO

I installed XP pro on a PC that I plan on using for the staff as a POS system at work. I've seen some computers that prevent users from accessing any features but for the program they want you to use, even right clicking. How can I achieve those results. Is there a program that automatically does it if you configure it?

the windows cd to repair ...the version of the windows running on my pc is servise pack 1 but i dont have the cd instead i have the sp2 disk..can i use this cd to fix the problem(copyning the missed file:SYSTEM)?

I did this many times...I would go on Excel and print out this calendar. I forgot how to do it and I remember it was quite simple but I cannot find anything on Excel to lead me to printing out a calendar or reminding of how I did it...

Please lead me through good instructions on what to press to get this calendar. It's like this thing where I get choices of what kind of calendar I want (horizontal/vertical/themes, etc)...then I print.

Hey whats the best music downloader out there thats free. Dont worry I dont plan on downloading much cause i mostly just buy cds anyways. Ive used limewire but its always got virus crap up the butt. Whats good that has LOTS of music on it and free to download? Ive used Kazaa lite and that version was amazing but i cant get it again cause i cant find it well i cant find the free version. Can anyone help or does anyone have an opinion that isnt rude about music downloaders?

Earlier I was able to copy the attached actual pictures from the yahoo email by just right click the thumnail picture from the email and select save as option, the actual picture will be saved. But now when I tried only the thumbnail size picture gets copied not the actual picture. I have to download each pictue seperately and it is very tiring. Is there any option to be set in the internet explorer for this.. pls help.

Because the ones I have taken on my phone do not play on my computer because it does not have a compatible file type.so i cant play it on windows media player or real player or any program like that.

When I download it, it appers to download and install. It even puts the shortcut on my desktop. Then when I open the shortcut and try to run it, the download window opens again like I never downloaded the thing.

My OS is 2000, i found a virus file winlogon.exe located system32\wbem . I use procxp kill the process, use killbox delete the file. but a few minutes, i found the virus again.

Hello everyone! I have tried my opotions like flikr, picasa, etc, but i want to make a photo Id of my own, where i will have an ID and password of my own, and want to store all my photos, my memories, in it, ONLY FOR MYSELF, I DO NOT WANT IT SHARE IT, like many sites like pisasa, flikr, yahoo photos offer.
