Software - June 2006

OK, I was a tech for several years and have forgotten more than I can remember, so please no answers like 'rt click start button > properties >...' already done... already set prog's so theuy should 'duck down' behind taskbar etc...

So here's the problem: task-bar hides but when cursor is moved to bottom of page to unhide/reveal it doesn't work... the only thing I can do is use the 'MicrOCrap' key to unhide it... This happens with all of my usual programs so I figure I must have a registry key that has been dropped or has been altered... no virus to date since this machine was built (Avast is the greatest!)... Any ideaz, this one is stumping me and I know it must be really simply stupid...

Some days I wish I had swam upstream 20 yrs ago and followed the apple :- /

I need to run 1 application on the pc side called (media shout). how many GBof my 500gb hard drive should i partition for the pc side? i am nervous about buying this computer in the next two weeks. Do pc applications run well with the intell. And boot camp how is this working? Will the new MAC OS have something better than boot camp? and when will it come out?

I can save a document and type fine. But if i open a preious typed document or open a brand new document and try to type on the previous layer or new layer nothing happens when i type. No numbers no text. But i can type in any other program besides photoshop. I have never experienced this befoee. Does anyone know what's going on? Or can help me?

Here is what I am looking for, I want an app that I can point to a folder and it will generate a series of HTML documents that outline the structure and contents of the folders.

But even if it doesn't go that far, something that just copied the names of selected files and folders to the clipboard would be good enough. The app needs to run in Windows XP.

Everytime I cut and paste the check it puts a letter in. I am looking for an easier way of inserting the check symbol w/o having to go into the drop down box for symbols and clicking insert.

I had one on my desktop at work that would check up to 4 email accounts. It was freeware that I downloaded. It would let you know how many emails you had and display that information in the tray at the bottom of the screen. Since a recent upgrade on my PC I lost that program and I have not been able to find it again. Thanks in advance...

When building a 2003 Server domain, it adds a Default First site name domain along side the domain that i have created. Is this needed, can it be removed? Sometimes it generates errors that point to this location.

I have windows xp home ed. i'm the only one who uses the computer so when i turn it on, it just goes from the "windows xp" screen to my desktop. but yesterday, it now goes from the "windows xp" screen to the "welcome" screen where i have to click on my username to go to the desktop. i tried going to user accounts in control panel, but when i unclicked the welcome screen box, now it just gives me the "original" log on box, which i don't want also, since I'm the only one who uses this computer! can anyone tell me how to set it up so it goes directly to the desktop without having this "click on your username" stuff?? Thanks!!
