i am running win 98 client , after my password expired i changed it succesfully , then i can no longer log on . could it be a virus . this is the error i get The domain password you supplied is not correct, or access to your logon server has been denied

check if it is cap locks.. no way the virus would do that.. must be user error

Well, if oyu are no longer able to log on at all, you either have to go get the computer scanned with a password finder or just reformat the hard drive and reinstall the Operating system. I would suggest though that you upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 2. Windows 98 is very flawed and vulnerable to new threats out there now. It is well worth the upgrade if your computer can handle the demands of XP. Check the system requirements to find that out. Although, for the RAM requirement, I would suggest that you go no lower that 512MB because of the RAM demands of XP.

There are viruses out there that can change that because it is all a matter of changing a little bit of data in some files on your computer, which viruses do on a regular basis. Just scan the system with the virus scanner, but restart in safe mode before you do that. If you need more help, go to www.geekstogo.com and register fro a free account. if i remember right
in 98 you can delete the password list
so when you restart it will ask you all over again
i believe its a
.pwl file
find it
and delete
