SoBored,

There are three ways that you can fix this problem.

1. Use another person's key, but now with new software, this usually doesn't work because the cd will notice that the key does not match the files on the cd.

2. Call EA and get a new key.

3. If you're old computer is still working and still has the sims 2 installed on it, look in the registry and find the product key there. Most programs will put their key in a REG_SZ type key. To get to your registry:
a) click on START
b) click on RUN
c) type in REGEDIT
d) click on the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
e) click on the plus sign next to SOFTWARE
f) look for the EA GAMES folder
g) search through the EA GAMES folder for any keys that seem to have the value that may look like the key that was sent to you along with the case. I don't know how long the key is, but it should be more than 10 digits.

Hope this helped.
