I have bought a secondhand computer for my daughter, it's quite new but i am affraid of what the previous owner has been using it for. What software would you recomend to rid it completely of all previous website activity. new or downloadable(free). Thanks

I have 143 dodgy bits of spyware when I do a search but so far the only downloads I can find just detect it and won't fix it... I already know it's there! I need to get rid but I don't have a bank account or credit card to set up an account. I really hope someone can help me, this is doing my head in!!

Sometimes when I cut and paste a file in Windows the file doesn't get copied correctly to the destination but it gets removed from the soure. This results in me losing the file that I was trying to move. What should I do about this?

I've shot some good video files with my digital camera. It makes .AVI files, which I'm perfectly happy with. To upload these files to a certain web site, I need to convert them to a different file type (like .WMV or .MPG). What's a good program that does this? I have a fast computer and lots of hard drive space so resources aren't a problem. Please tell me the name and post a link to whereI can read about it or buy it. I'd prefer a freeware or shareware program that I can legally download.

It's no longer there when I go to Add/Remove Programs since I removed it, but it's still on my desktop and still on my list of programs when I go to the start menu. Could it be only partially uninstalled? And if so, what else do I need to do to completely uninstall it? I have no use for this program.

I have been told if I push F8 or F2 while boosting my computer it will bring up safe mode... well I re-start computer (this is boosting yeah?) and when I hit either of those buttons nothing happens. Am I DOING SOMETHING WRONG?

I want to burn some .avi files to a DVD. I want the DVD to have a menu. I have MyDVD but it's messed up. Is there any FULL trials or free programs I can use for a day just to get it done. I don't want a software with some important features blocked out.

on installing a desktop program on my wifes p.c i was given a message that files in windows had been replaced with files that windows dosent recognize
i uninstalled the program straight away and luckily ,since then i havent had that message
should i do a system restore,or leave it,as when i uninstalled the program,would the original files be replaced
on a system restore,does the restore point contain a exact image of the state of your computer on that point in time?
