Let's start by looking at the back of the computer. If there is a place to plug in speakers and a microphone then you probably have a sound device but no drivers for it (or corrupted ones). If there is nothing, you will have to buy one. If you do have one, go to the control panel and look at hardware devices to see if there is something that has a question mark (meaning no drivers as Windows couldn't find any) or if, by chance, it is disabled. If disabled, then enable it. If no drivers, you will need to know what kind it is - open the case and look at it for a brand name. If it is built-in, look on the mobo itself. You can always get drivers at the manfacturers website or drivers.com

check this :
right click on my computer ( from desk top or start menu)
choose properties -> hardware -> device manager -> here if you have a sound card and it's not installed you can find it in othe devices (with a question mark ? sign)
and if it's installed you can see it on sound ,video and game ...
it look that your audio device driver is not installed .
try to install it from mother board cd rom or download it from mother board's company website .
for download you should know the exact type of your main board.

if you dont have a sound card installed n the computer then you will need to buy one, they are very cheap and easy to install you can get one for 30 to 40 bucks no sweat.

You probably need a sound card. You can get those pretty cheap. a good place to look is www.newegg.com
