I use PC TOOLS Spyware Doctor but it only shows up spyware after a complete scan. I want a program that will prevent it from gettting in to my computer in the first place

As a rule, anti-spyware software programs are better at deleting spyware than they are at blocking it. Ad Aware SE free version does not have real time protection. Spybot Search & Destroy has two real time tools, one works with Internet Explorer and the other is "Tea Timer," which is not browser specific. Another free product is Microsoft's Windows Defender beta 2, which provides a good deal of real time protection.
To improve spyware blocking, you should consider installing a strong firewall and intrusion detection software (IDS). ZoneAlarm firewall, the free version, blocks out spyware and Trojans (i.e. spyware is a loose term that people oftentime use to mean Trojans as well). ZoneAlarm is exceptional when in comes to blocking these malwares. Windows XP built in firewall is relatively weak compare to ZoneAlarm. The one problem you will encountered with ZoneAlarm is that it isn't suited for computer novices.
A intrusion detection software application would really help to secure your computer. It well monitor key areas of your computer in real time. Key areas include: startup programs, running processes, Hosts file, services and Browser Help Objects (BHO). These are all areas commonly used by spyware. Some weeks ago I had a problem with my computer, it was slowing down and i couldn't explain why some websites where redirecting! Since I had a good (norton) antivirus system I did not think that I had spyware! , however a friend of mine came to my house and immediately told me that I had a spyware program, he entered into a site downloaded one of the free programs featured there and installed it on my computer, after running this program my computer is fast and downloading normally, whilst my homepage was also restored.

Spybot: Search & Destroy does a great job at finding spyware and deleting it completely. It's also got a GREAT "immunization" feature which prevents known spyware from entering your computer completely, which has saved me a LOT of pain over the years. You can find Spybot on http://www.download.com by searching for "spybot". Free download, too. Not just a trial version. Great program.

Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search & Destroy are two of the best anti-spyware programs available. Both are free downloads and will immunize your system from spyware. Also, both provide periodic updates to keep them current.

I think that just about the best one is the Microsoft spyware remover. In the past, it was called the Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta, but they recently changed the name to Windows Defender. You have to have a legal copy of Windows to install and run it, but it is free...

well i got that problem of spyware at my pc but now spyware totally remove ..am giving u a link http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php just open that page download smitfraudfix then double click on smitfraudfix.cmd and in first box u hit on 1 and then press enter kye that software dedect ur infected files then u hit on 2 and then enter ur all infected files will be delete ..........its very simple way to clean ur pc from spyware
