on installing a desktop program on my wifes p.c i was given a message that files in windows had been replaced with files that windows dosent recognize
i uninstalled the program straight away and luckily ,since then i havent had that message
should i do a system restore,or leave it,as when i uninstalled the program,would the original files be replaced
on a system restore,does the restore point contain a exact image of the state of your computer on that point in time?

What types of files were being replaced? Were they library files such as .dll or data files such as .doc. This will be a major point in determining whether restore is imperative.

Well From a professional way you should restore your PC to the latest restore point prior to the install of the specific Program.
and yes it will contain the same e image as it was before
