I have 143 dodgy bits of spyware when I do a search but so far the only downloads I can find just detect it and won't fix it... I already know it's there! I need to get rid but I don't have a bank account or credit card to set up an account. I really hope someone can help me, this is doing my head in!!

Ad-aware Se personal and my favorite Spybot Search and Destroy. Both work very well

I use adawareSE and spybot search&destroy in combination with windows defender. Make sure you download the right the version, the version that lets you detect as well as remove spyware. You may need to register your copy through their webpage before it works properly.

Also, you can run the scan in windows safe mode. Hit f8 while your computer is booting up and then, as it boots into safe mode, run your scans. It should then be able to remove all of those nasties.

Make sure you are using Firefox or Opera instead of Windows Explorer. Windows IE is a magnet for viruses and spyware.

If you get desperate, webroot spysweeper is supposedly a good $30 fix.

Lastly, stop looking at porn.

Go to bluelunar.net and on the left side there is a tips and tutorial panel. Look in there for Protect your PC and click on that. It will show you a list of ways to protect your computer and all these spyware programs, which are all free. Basically, some programs that you should use are
Spybot Search and Destroy
Spyware Blaster
Ad-aware SE

Some weeks ago I had a problem with my computer, it was slowing down and i couldn't explain why some websites where redirecting! Since I had a good (norton) antivirus system I did not think that I had spyware! , however a friend of mine came to my house and immediately told me that I had a spyware program, he entered into a site downloaded one of the free programs featured there and installed it on my computer, after running this program my computer is fast and downloading normally, whilst my homepage was also restored.

the webpage where you can find free reliable anti spyware is:

Microsoft's "Windows Defender" is a pretty reliable scanner and remover of spyware. It's free.
Just goto http://www.microsoft.com/defender.

Although if you have 143 spyware programs installed - just format and start over, and be more careful next time :-P

I think that just about the best one is the Microsoft spyware remover. In the past, it was called the Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta, but they recently changed the name to Windows Defender. You have to have a legal copy of Windows to install and run it, but it is free...

There are other tools here...

Good luck!

Adaware, Spybot S & D, and Ewido Security Suite.
(Ewido only if you are running XP or Win2K...nothing older)
Download, install and update definitions on all of them.

Run your spyware removers in safe mode (tap the F8 key before the welcome screen appears - select safe mode only). Remove all it finds.

Good luck...that stuff is pesky to remove.
