i got hijacked when i go to explorer it takes me to a place i don't want to go. i looked at internet ops, and it was the one i wanted, but some how they are putting it on the address bar, so i thought if i see the programs , i could remove it. just need to know how to see what programs i have on my browser, but don't know how to get to it. i'm running windows xp sp2

after login i have about 30 seconds before my pc shuts down
i have norton systemworks, rebooted 'safe mode' full scan-(nothing) did on-line scan with Mcaffee found "the matrix has you"
deleted that, now have savedump.exe running in task manager my pc still shuts down
its like a race against time when i bootup ending any process that i dont recognise before it shuts down, did it last night just managed to do it again what do i do i cant leave my pc on forever!!

I recently installed an "ActiveX" control on my computer. And ever since, the Desktop shortcuts have been highlighted with grey. I have removed the "ActiveX" Controls and it is still highlighted. Thank you for any help. I have been told to reformat my hard drive.

I talked to SBC my ISP for 2 hours to no avail.
I need to change it back to the correct IP address but it will not allow it and when I reboot the bogus IP address comes back?
How can I fix this?

I have a red circle with a slash which says this message from time to time:

There is also a caution icon which says like every minute or less:

a friend of mine was given a computer that came from a buisness in which they got all new computers so they gave the old ones away.the one jenny has she cant do simple functions like defrag or anything without a administrator password .what can she do to solve this,or figure the password out?thanks.

as my email account was hacked a few weeks ago and I lost access to it. Ive set up new email address, started running avast, its picked up some bugs, which ive put into the chest, (is this right?) and now every time I go into my emails, it takes ages for the page to load and clear etc. Is this because of avast or is someone trying to hack in AGAIN!??

Does the avast cover spyware or should I download something else too.

Ok, so I was having problems with my computer...I downloaded AVG Free and scanned. It found 4 infected files, but they seem to be 1 file?? (Java/Byte/Verify) But it can't heal them because they are archived??
Could anyone please tell me how to remove these??!!?? Thanks again!

The last couple of times I have been on the computer a Computer Associates box has popped up and started scanning (takes like 30 minutes) and then says I have 2-4 infected files/programs. After restarting things are fine for awhile. Since then I am having problems having two programs open at once (like I was trying to balance my checkbook, but I couldn't have my money program and internet) Or internet will kick me out and I'll get a grey box saying something about fail to initialize properly. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on/how to fix this problem?

I know that I am not protected against any viruses that are created after today,but some have told me that I will more than likely be Ok for a couple of months. How much of a chance am I taking? I have been thinking of trying a free version like AVG,but I have been pleased with Mcafee so far. Just curious..thanks in advance.
