the laptop is an old Dell lattitude, and i am about to put the win98 op system on it... worried that it wont work wirelessly as wireless came in after 98 to my knowledge also i dont know if i can get the driver to be recognised. dont want to wipe an old lappy if its not going to work! . thanks! I have a 56Kbps modem and a dial up connection. I had upplied for BroadBand connection from BSNL. They said they wont configure the connection if i have my own modem, all that they can give me is User ID, Password and IP address and they gave all that info. I tried making a connection using all these details but all time getting error 759 or 760.
1. So does anyone know how to configure ur connection for BroadBand? (especially BSNL)
2. Does a 56Kbps modem works with BroadBand?

As i have not been able make the connection on my own, have decided to take a type 1 modem on rental from BSNL. So please give me the answer soon and Save my money.
(Monthly rental charges for a modem is Rs.80/- )

I took hundreds of photographs and videos of the ducks at the pond and beautiful scenery and my best male friend the last time he could come over and some funny stuff. The other day, I saw a long-lost buddy I haven’t seen it years and we were taking memory shots, but she accidentally clicked ‘OK’ thinking it was the button at the top to take a picture, and wiped out all the previous photos/formatted the whole memory card.
Is there a good computer trick or virus-free no-charge downloaded programme that is successful? I really want to get them back!

Hi to all. When I go to control pame, display property, settings, screen area and try to drag the slider to the right to change 640 x 480 16 colors to the recommended size it doens't slide/move at all. When I log on the internet it looks fussy and blurry images. P.S. I added a windows 98 driver to a windows 2000. everything work except this little problem. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm wanted to register my computer with UC Davis and they require an ethernet hardware address. However, I have a couple of problems. When I try to run 'cmd' in the Run on the Start Menu, it says 'cmd is not a valid Win32 application.' On top of this, the ethernet controller on my Device Manager has a question mark. I couldn't find this on support.dell.com nor on the installation CD's for the drivers. I destroyed all spyware with SpyBot and I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop.

the way that tech gadgets change ( although i am by no means a technophobe ) is getting on my nerves ....this endless parade of new MP3 players and as soon as you have one there is MP4 . when you have a DVD writer you have BLURAY etc etc etc ...... i am sick of it ... what of you folks .... why is technology so intruding in our lives now ? if people wait 2 days in queue to pick up an I Phone what does it say about human society ?

Is there some sort of cord? I can't use a flash drive because it's over 2gigs and thats the biggest drive I have, and I cant use email because of the size. I'm pretty good with computer terms, so no need to dumb down your answer.

Ive tried burning CDs on my laptop with sucess in the past but it suddenly doesn't work, for no reason, and i havent changed the type of disks im using. Im trying to burn an audio CD and Im using Tesco CD-R blank disks. Ive tried using both Media Player and Itunes with no luck, whereas the family PC seems to have no trouble doing it (but if i cant burn a cd i cant transfer my songs to that computer to do it on that anyway so im stuck :(. ) It starts to burn the CD then suddenly stops, cancels it and chucks me out a CD which cannot be re-used. Its wasting my flipping CDs and they are not cheap!! Ive gone through about 20 CDs trying to get it working. Im using different playlists too, so its not the song/ authorisation or anything. There arent any updates on Windows that my computer needs, been and checked... So Im really stuck!!! please help...
and dont suggest downloading software, im not allowed :(

Okay, so some time ago, I had a virus on my computer, and it took some time to delete it. It was a Trojan (shudder).
Anyway, so now the viruses are all gone, I haven't had even one come up on the last four scans.
UNFORTUNATELY, the virus wiped out a bunch of stuff before I could stop it. I can't get into my programs in my start menu, so no games are available (including the Sims 2, which I'm totally addicted to).
Anyway, so I'm wondering what steps I can take to restore my system. I can't get into the start menu to simply do a system restore, so that's out of the question.
If I used the Windows XP disc, would that wipe out everything I already had? Should I back-up my files to a disc? Smash my computer into bits with a baseball bat?
Eventually, this computer is going to be replaced, but I don't want to lose everything in the meantime. Please advise?

When keying in email addresses, it used to have a kind of predictive text setting, where once I started typing the name it would offer up examples of addresses that started with the same letters etc. Its now gone - how do I get it back?
