what is it? For the last few months, several times an hour, all day long, randomly, the following sounds/ audio clips come out of my computer: a lion's roar / an idiotic laughter (hi hi hi) / a woman's voice saying "access denied". What the HGHJTU%? It's completely random, doesn't correspond to any action i'm taking on the computer.... whether I have 1 or several programs opened. What is it? How do I get rid of it? Is anyone hearing the same things????

When I click to open a file I downloaded, nothing happens. It shows it being in My Documents,but it won't open. I am not very computer savvy(obviously), so any help would be great.

my work emails has websense because i send videos from home. but other people send videos from their home cpu and it plays just fine through windows media player. but mine says i need internet access to veiw yahoo mail. is there another way that i can send it to my work?

I got this old computer that I need to format. I'm just going to give it away but I need to erase everything first.

The thing is, it was on a network and I forgot the password to login. I know I could go into Safe Mode, login as admin and create a new account and all that but I tried it and I guess I changed that too.

This computer doesn't have a CD drive to put the XP CD and format and the only thing it has is a floppy drive that doesn't work so pretty much there's nothing I can connect to it.

Can I access it through my network from another computer and then format it?

The characters on my web page is looking vry pale and the pictures on the sites r coming very slowly.What will be the reason?What should i do?The computer was not shut down properly a few times because of malfunctioning of the ups.

I haven't used my other computer (my home PC) for about a month and a half because of my new laptop. Well i had to get some old files out of it and turned it on today only to find out that I literally freezes whenever I click something. My PC startup screen is the user accounts screen and when I click on any account to type in the password, it shows the type-in box but I can't do anything else. It also doesn't show any text (and I mean NO text at all)
I can't even shut it down by clicking "Turn Off Your Computer" cause it freezes!!

What happened because it's making me really mad.

I did a document over OpenOffice Writer and sent it via email attachment, which was tagged with .swp. What sort of file is .swp and why can't the recipient open it???

So I just got back from a trip to Texas, and I want to show people all the pictures I took there (about 700). What is the best way that I could show these. Preferably, I would like them to be displayed on my TV, but I don't have any cables to connect my computer to the TV. I've tried burning CD's and putting them into my DVD player, but it won't show the video's that I have. Thanks a lot!! oh yes, and ive tried picasa and for some reason, it always fails on the 2nd disk

I'm trying to put a song onto my powerpoint presentation using a mac. I want the song to play at 28 seconds, but i don't know how to make that work. I've gotten to the point where i inserted the song, but i can't change the option of when i want the song to start playing. I can do that on a regular windows computer by going to insert, movies and sounds, sound from file, press automatically, then left click the sound object, go to custom animation, right click on the song, effect options, then change 'from beginning' from the start playing category, to 'from time.'
I couldn't figure it out, and I would really like it if it played from 28 seconds. =\ If someone could help out, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

my computer's internet is too slow...whenever i change a page i have to wait 20 seconds before the next page comes on....i have windows XP, brand new computer i just got it a year ago....i have 500 ram pentium processor and 1.50 ghz or something.......can someone suggest any possible reason why it is slow.....and maybe state a possible solution..i got the higher end models and i did all the virus checks with it...there is no virus....is there anything in the setting that i can do or change or anything like that might solve the problem?....i get so frustrated so any help would be appreciated....thanks

I gave my son my old computer. (6yrs.old)
He's trying to get on internet with DSL but it keeps saying it's blocked because of old anti virus files. A tech support guy says he has to contact Norton. The computer hasn't been used in a couple of years so anti virus is expired. I really have no idea how else to explain this. I'm just trying to get him some help.
I deleted alot of files I had on it but I know stuff is still on the hard drive. How do you get rid of all that so it is like when I first got it?????

hi. my mother has barely used a computer in her life. she cant even get into email after i have explained it a million times. she is bipolar and it isnt easy. she lives in wv i live in ma. is there a way i can get into her computer from my house to set up her email and homepage and messenger so she can speak with me ?

I'm trying to get rid of the login box when I boot up my computer. I tried deleting all users and the only user is me (administrator). I don't have to actually enter a password, I just press the 'Enter' key when it pops up. But I want it gone completely.

I also tried the "control userpasswords2" thing, but no luck. I heard there is a registry value you can change, but I don't know where in the registry.

ive just been given a packard bell pc from a friend hes son had been using it and it has a lot of programs on it that i dont want how do i restore to factory settings without the recovery cds or floppys ive tried all the f keys the f2 gets me into bios but f12 does nowt nor do the others im a pc novice so idiot proof instructions would be good many thanks
