the laptop is an old Dell lattitude, and i am about to put the win98 op system on it... worried that it wont work wirelessly as wireless came in after 98 to my knowledge also i dont know if i can get the driver to be recognised. dont want to wipe an old lappy if its not going to work! . thanks! Cheryl

Sure! Make sure you update 98 with all of the updates.

If you want to be absolutely sure, find the driver first. Go to the wireless card's manufacturer site. It will list a system requirement for the driver.

If you can't find a driver though, I take it back - it probably won't work. It could work if you are a techie person willing to make it work but it sounds like you don't want to do that.

I've used at least one wireless card with Windows 98. If it is an integrated wireless, it probably doesn't have 98 drivers, but most off-the-shelf cards have 98 drivers still available.

If you are going on the internet, make sure you have good virus protection. Just a friendly reminder.
