One of "My Folders" has become extremely large and I would like to periodically move its contents to an external storage device. Is there some way to accomplish this? Thanks for your help with this.

This is very basic, but the family is argueing about the correct way to use the powerbar into which the computer is plugged. The toggle switch on the powerbar is turned to the "on" or lit position. When we go away for several days, should we leave the switch in this position, or, thinking about energy saving and the environment, should we turn the toggle switch to the off or unlit position?

Supplementary, which position is it that actually protects the computer from power serges?

selected to boot from cd drive but still can't boot up already tried on 2 XP os cd, cd drive detected and work well with no problem ,a friend of mine told me that there is something to do with the bio,I'm using Dell 4600 desktop .pls help .

why is it that when i try to install anything on my comp it says something like, 'cannot write to system 32' or something similar? i kn ow whats on system 32 but how do i set it so i have permission! its my comp not a network. cant find any options with that option

For about the last month every time i try to open a .DAT file it tries to open as a video file with Nero video viewer. They used to open with notepad but now it says it can't read.

Now... I just want to know that anyone of you have experienced anything like that???

Periodically, my mouse freezes and then after a day or so it unfreezes. Example, I'm typing this question and if I pause for about 5 seconds or more before clicking "Next", I have to double click to get my mouse to work. As I say, after a day or two it reverts to normal single click action. I've checked the settings to see if there's anything there that might explain, but I can't see anything. It's annoying because it means the cursor is frozen whereever it is - often on a link - and by the time the mouse comes back to life, the link has opened, and that is rarely the action I want. By the way, it is a wireless mouse.

I have a computer that is just all screwed up. It kept crashing so I tried to restore it to a previous day when it worked, it still crashed, I tried to do a system restore, even the full restore to it's original state. It looks like it is about to start up for the first time and then nothing but bad image errors pop up and everything stays black. Is there anything I can do besides pay someone else to fix it?

I ask because the song "Computer Love" by Zapp & Roger has lyrics pertaining to online dating i.e. "is this your face I see on my computer screen?" Given the song was released in 1985, I was wondering if it was common, then, to see pictures when this song imerged (sort of like online dating). I read history of the internet and what not, but it didn't give me the detailed information I was looking for.

For years, along with other remedies to keep my PC running smoothly, I have always defragged my hard drive on a regular basis [monthly]. My daughter just had a technician tell her to NEVER defrag; especially after d/loading programs. What a shock! Opinions, please.
