dat file changed?

Question

For about the last month every time i try to open a .DAT file it tries to open as a video file with Nero video viewer. They used to open with notepad but now it says it can't read.

Right click on any dat file.
Select Open with.... from the Menu
Browse to the Notepad program
Check the little box at the bottom of the window that says "Always use this program to open this type of file"
Click OK

Yes, it sounds like to need to fix your file associations, and here is how to do it.

Right-click on one of your .date files and select Open With, Choose Program.
A menu will open presenting different programs to use. Select the program you want and at the bottom check the box that says Always Use the Selected Program...

There, should be fixed now.
