Click START. Click SEARCH. Click FOR FILES AND FOLDERS. Click ALL FILES AND FOLDERS.

In the box marked All Or Part Of A File Name: , type *.zip

(That's asterisk period zip with no spaces).

Click SEARCH.

If you right clicked on the 'item' and went send to compressed zip folder, it will be in the same folder as the first one.

Otherwise...Start, Search, For Files or folders, in the search field, type in *.zip
This will find all zip files in whatever location you tell it to look. Then you just need to find the one that has the name/similar name to your original file

In windows if you have XP you should be able to go to "Start" --> "Search". Then click on "All files and Folders". If you have an idea of what folder or hard drive it may be you can limit the searching by using "Look In" and choosing the folder or hard drive you think it may be in. Otherwise where it says "All or part of the file name" put "*.zip" without the quotes in the box. This should find all of the commonly compressed files on your computer.

start / search / files and folders
Enter name or part of name of the file.

Also helps to remember WHERE you put files, have a sensible file structure and stick to it
