On start-up, I see a yellow shield with ! mark in the task bar. When I point at it with the mouse it always says "downloading 0%" and never higher than 0. If I double click/right click nothing happens. It won't tell me what it is or what it's supposed to be downloading. Eventually it goes away (5 - 10 minutes). Recently I've had smitfraud zlob trojan infection. Is this related and how do I get rid of it?
I know when windows update runs I get a pop up telling me what it's doing so I'm thinking this is something else. I have run virus and several different spyware scans and there is nothing there.
I have already downloaded and installed the latest updates so that shouldn't be it. Is this Windows doing something?
I run XP Home and have automatic updates.

Is there a way to save an image (not a picture but an image of your files and programs) of my harddrive as an executable file that can be executed and set all my preferences and programs back to the way they were? I know this is kind of in depth and i doubt anyone is computer savy enough to know on here but if anyone knows could you please tell me? thanx

I have a new Belkin card on my Inspiron 8600 laptop and wireless from Verizon in the house which works on ever other computer except my laptop. I call Verizon. They hook me up with new password while the yellow cable from router is connected, and wireless works and lasts one day only. Then, I only get internet on my laptop with the yellow cable from my router connected to my laptop, and then, not even through Verizon, but an unsecured near-by connection. What is wrong? Is it my computer? My Card? Verizon? Help, in layman's terms, please... Do I have to spend a fortune and get my computer checked?

Hello, I recently added XP to my Win 2000 PC and now get at startup a screen asking me which system I want to use. Default is XP, but I want to change this to Win2000. I can't change during startup because the cordless keyboard is not recognised until Win is running. I found a suggestion that I alter the boot.ini file, but there is no boot.ini file or anything that looks like it, on my hard disc. Thanks

I have a friend who's PC in on TalkTalk BB. They are getting an error message something like this: Cannot get the skin, talktalk was not found. Client will not close.
