hi, i want to assign a drive letter to dat drive in win 2003 server. i have one dat drive to my server and i need to back up my data to this dat drive. i m using backup wizard in windows but i want to assign drive letter such as c: d: etc. or like removable drives. plz help me

You should be able to tdo this by going to the control panel > admin tools > computer management > storage. Here you can select your storage devices and rename them (it is easy to right click on device names). be careful - if you have devices pointed to a specific drive for apps it could mess up in other areas.

just map a network drive to the location and then you can "assign" a drive letter to the mapped drive.
