Well.. Programs like that are kind of illegal for normal people to use.. think of it.. you could get on your worst enemys computer and find out all the sites theyve been to.. and in some cases.. credit card #s and everything..
Believe me.. ive tried lookin for one.
If you REALLY need that info.. try going to your local community college.. ask a computer/ computer security teacher if he could do it for you..
they are usually certified in that field and it's legal for them to do it if they contact microsoft about it..
and they'll do it for free in many cases!
byt my question is...
how can you forget to back up files and refomatt your computer? lol..

You should be able to get a fair bit of it back.
I use them all the time. however they are not free.
they may have a free trial so you can see what they can do but you have to buy it to actually recover the files.
The also involve a bit of trawling, the files dont get recovered into nice little folders.
I have recovered stuff after several formats and re pettitions and software installed over the top. But the more that has gone on the less you will recover and the mor fragmented the recovered data becomes

Must be very distressing for you. However, the fact is that your data is probably still there on the HD. Format only scrubs the FAT table and it is possible to get you data back. But it will cost you. Try www.ontrack.co.uk which does data recovery. If you can afford it, they can do it. Sorry, no free services.

If you really have low-level formatted your disk,
that data is not coming back. I suggest you
install one of the following free operating systems
and quite the Microsoft habit for good. They are
more reliable, get better performance out of your
hardware and frankly, you'll get better support
for them:

If you did a format - good luck. Try the FBI - but even then, if you didn't zero it out, you might get one or two pieces of files - nothing more.

Even if you've reformatted the data is still there, there are several tools to help you recover it.
