I have a new Belkin card on my Inspiron 8600 laptop and wireless from Verizon in the house which works on ever other computer except my laptop. I call Verizon. They hook me up with new password while the yellow cable from router is connected, and wireless works and lasts one day only. Then, I only get internet on my laptop with the yellow cable from my router connected to my laptop, and then, not even through Verizon, but an unsecured near-by connection. What is wrong? Is it my computer? My Card? Verizon? Help, in layman's terms, please... Do I have to spend a fortune and get my computer checked?

B. Shelby, what is reset the network? And what network? As I said, I am not getting Verizon, which I subscribe to, I am getting whatever unsecure network is in my neighborhood, so not much control there.

Oladeva, sory, I don't understand. The router has no "card," as far as I know. It's a Wesell Versalink model 327W.

j_man, I don't mind using cable and staying close to router. But I want my secure Verizon network. It won't work. The unsecure neighborhood networks take over.

U mentioned that the ur using belkin wireless adaptor for wireless connection. Check whether the wireless profile is created using Belkin software or not. If it is so, disable the wireless zero configuration in windows (If ur using windows).

To disable wireless zero configuration. Do the following
Click on start
Click on Run
Type - services.msc then hit OK
now u will get services window there in the list ur will find wireless zero configuration- Double click on that and there
Stop the wireless zero configuration.

After this, go to network connections and right click on WAN and Left click on properties. Now there uncheck the option "notify me when there is limited or no connectivity.

Now refresh your wireless profile and now u might get connected thru wireless......

And also check whether the wireless switch is on on the computer or not.

Also check the wireless adaptor is enabled or not.
right click on my computer and click on properties
now click on hardware tab, click on device manager and now u will find a list of information in the device manager window.
check if there is any red colour cross appears on the Belkin wireless adapter in network adapters. If there is right click and enable it. If there is any yellow exclamation mark appears then u need to reinstall the drivers of Belkin wireless adapter.

Tips to keep wireless connection without loosing
1) dont keep the router on the floor
2) Dont keep any emi devices near to the router
3) Keep the router away from the walls
4)Check the antenna

All the best.

Just connect to the router using a cable. Wireless is slower than being connected via cable anyway plus it's more reliable.

sorry to assert in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it must be your linksys router and it in simple terms befell to bypass undesirable at that component. The linksys WRT54G router is unreliable and finally ends up having something bypass undesirable each and all of the time. try getting a Dlink, Netgear, or belken
