I have a friend who's PC in on TalkTalk BB. They are getting an error message something like this: Cannot get the skin, talktalk was not found. Client will not close.
Does anybody have any idea what this means? And how this can be resolved? Has anybody experienced this before?

Not sure what the message means only adivce i can give is to tell your mate to change his/her ISP .... and when they do make sure that they cancel the DD .... nothing but problems with talktalk ....

To help in detail, the actual error would be more helpful.
I would uninstall and then reinstall the TalkTalk software and try again, assuming that they are using the USB connection, and the supplied modem.
