My install disc is a bundle with windows me as the os. how can I install just the OS?

it first of all says that the pc didnt start up properly and gives me options such as safe mode or last known good configuration or start normal windows. ive tried all three. it still 'hangs ' on the window screen. i went into safe mode and tried to sytem restor a few timesbut when it stats up again i have the same problem. hope that makes sense. please help

Do i need a certain kind of cd to transfer my pictures from my computer onto one (a cd)? Or can i use any kind? Id like to put some pictures on a cd and share them with my mom but dont know how to do it.. all help is grately appreciated.. THANKS!

This is my first time ordering from Dell.

I'm surprised I placed the order on Monday and it's scheduled to arrive tomorrow! :) I am soooooo excited. It's our first BRAND NEW not handed down computer!!!! :) It will be our 3rd computer though!

Why? I never understand this. I am a computer science grad student and get made fun of whenever I tell people that I use an Apple Mac (Dual 2.3, G5). Most people either use XP or a LINUX strain. They usually say something like, "It's only got one mouse button!!. It's a toy!!. Pretty computers are dumb!!. Get a REAL OS, like XP!!...It doesn't even have a command line!!" (Actually, it does...you just don't need it).

As it turns out, most of these people have never even used a Mac...so what's the deal? Both Windows and LINUX are decent systems, but every version of Windows I have run seems to have stability problems. I have the released version of Vista 32-bit Ultimate at work and it still has bugs (this is NOT a beta). I don't have a lot of experience with LINUX, but the versions I have used seem to make you work harder for the same result. Besides, Macs are UNIX based too.

So...why do people hate Apples? Mine never crashes and does everything I need it to...

I need to transfer a very large file to another computer that is not on the same network. I can write a DVD, but I wonder if there is a more preferred way. I have tried to do a "Send File" from Yahoo Messenger, but it is really slow.

Ive deletd a file from a folder in (my documents) but when I go to that folder it asks if I want to see a previous version and there it is.I want to delete that so no one can go back and view it.This my be stored on the server at my work.Is there anyway I can delete this ?

can anyone please help,this is really doing my head in,my yahoo and google toolbars used to be full width of the page,one toolbar above the other and displaying all the buttons.for some reason they are now both shortend to be on the same line and the buttons are accessed through a dropdown menu.how do i get it back to how it was,any help is much appreciated.

When I boot up, a password screen appears as soon as the Gateway logo apears. Cannot get any further. No way to recover the password from the young child. We are pretty sure he just punched in random letters/numbers. Have tried entering BIOS, also tried booting in safe mode, but both require the password first. Any suggestions?
