i just did it after reformated my pc last week end.
first, connect ur ipod to pc.then open My Computer.
then double click the ipod icon(usually drive F).
then at the "Tool"...select "folder option".
in "folder option",there are 3 pages.select the 2nd page named"view".
in the middle of the "view" page,"check" the "show all file and folder".coz actually ur songs is in "hidden type".thats why u cant see ur songs file yet.
then click "OK".
after doing that...ur "music folder" should be visible already.go back to my computer, double click ur ipod icon(drive F usually).and u will find "music folder".ur songs should be all there.then simply "select all",right click play using itunes.ur songs from ipod will automatically been copied to ur pc itunes.hope this will help.
p/s:im using windows xp japanese version so the name of folder maybe a little different.coz i translated them directly.
=)

Unfortunately, Apple make it complete hell to transfer songs.

1. Make sure you can see "hidden folders". Go into the options menu under Windows Explorer to do this

2. Check that your iPod is connected, and go into My Computer, it should be there as a drive

3. Double click, and then go into the iPod_Control folder. It will appear faded, but don't worry

4. Then go into "Music", and you'll find that that folder has lots of different subfolders called F00, F01, F02 etc.

5. Your job? Each of those folders will have music in it in the form of an mp3 or m4a file - whichever has been saved. You just need to copy and paste

Note: This WILL take a while if you're one of those people who has more songs on their iPod than they can actually count to

Good luck :)

I think it's possible. When you plug in your ipod, do not run it in itunes. Matter of fact you don't need itunes to do this. Close itunes, then go to My Computer, with the ipod still plugged in, and click on the icon that recognize your ipod. It should be labeled removable hard drive or similar to that. Then open it and look at the folders. Your songs should be in there. Then copy and paste the songs you want. I think it might work, not sure. Hope that helps.
