plz guys i'm in big trouble if i cant retrieve my documents......

today i wanted to get my work done as usual n i go to "My Document" to open my document but i cant no matter how many times i doubleclick it (they are in microsoft excel and microsoft word format). i can open a new Microsoft Excel and Microsoft word properly but i cant open my work..

Details:::: i save all my work in 2 places, 1 is in "My Document" and another on a diskette and i tried both ways but still cant and i'm screwed

Is it tat those files are corrupted or virus or wat????

Ok, I have alot of pop ups, which I don't want but now, every time a pop up comes up, I close it and then my whole window closes, and it goes to my desktop atthe beginning so I have to click the E again and start all over. Why i this happenng?

Does anyone know why I would have to manually force my computer to shut down? I have to do this if it freezes and no key presses or any kind work.

Also....sometimes if I do control/alt/delete b/c a program is running and says not responding. I have had to do this when the computer seems to be acting slow or hanging up.

It doesn't happen daily but just wondered if anyone had any insight? If it was a virus I would probably know by it doing this more frequently or if I send out emails...others would let me know I sent a bad file/email or virus, correct?

is it possible for the pop ups to show in the search history, cos i found porn on my computer and it is only during the time frame that my husband was on, and he is saying that they were pop ups, and i am having a really hard time believing him when i see all this on the computer. I need to know if there is a way to get rid of the page number completely on the first page of a document in excel 2000. All I can figure out is how to make it "0" - but I would rather have the title page blank. Any ideas?

i cant view my myspace profile or anybody elses.it started on sunday when this little yellow sign popped up in the right corner of my computer.it said "run chk dsk" to i did.but also with the little yellow sign had a path to a file so i followed that first.in that folder there were a bunch of myspace txt. documents almost like they were pages of the profiles.so i deleted all of them and did the chk dsk utility.when i restarted the computer it had t check it again before it could complete turning on.so when it was done i went back to what i was doing i clickded to c my profile but it didnt finish loading, almost like it was disconnect.it acted like it was disconnected but i was still connected cause i was still talking on messenger and when the page web page didnt say "check your connection" so i know it had something to do with deleting the txt. documents but i cant retrieve those txt. document cause my recyleing bin is messed up for a while since May so i dont know how i can fix my computer so i can view my freinds profile or what those documents were.

A format that takes up the least hard drive space while retaining quality. I just want to keep a few movies on my laptop to view whenever I travel and get bored in the car or plane. I use windows media player classic as the default player. Thanks for any advices

my computer has been slow and crashing lately, i suspect because i only have about 5 gbs left out of my 40 gbs on the hard drive. if i buy an 80 gb external drive, will it be enough or will it really not last me long. i don't know how external hard drives work like if i transfer things onto, are they gonna take up the same amount of memory or more. how does the compression work?

i installed dsl which should be much more faster but at time i kind of wonder how do you think i would make it run faster my pc that is sometimes when i am writing emails my keyboard pauses that i am thinkin i have wrtten but in reality i was writing sort of air why? i do not know it slows me down i think it all related to spyware eventhough i run the included spyware which came with yahoo dsl

When I search, somethings downloading by itself "Virus Buster" on my pc. I have this virus software NOD 23. How can I use msconfig 2 delete other stuffs? But I have 2 reinstall it again, so it's OK. but the problem is how to use the msconfig then I have to click SERVICES. A friend of my taught me about this, but I 4got. I really want to play this game on my computer but it uses a lot of ram and most of the time my PC crashes. I can't buy anymore RAM till the new year so is there a way I could free up any existing ram on my PC that may be being used for something pointless?
I am running Windows XP I only have 256mb ram.
