hi.. well i just got a new laptop, and it got a Wi-Fi ; so i was wondering if there is some kinda machine or hardware that i can plug my internet cable into and it'll give me wireless internet feeds to the Wi-Fi in my laptop so that i will be able to use my cable connexion " wirelessly" anywhere i want in my house and of course with privacy ( access protected by a password or some kinda security feature).... if there is such a machine then please give me some links so that i can see em and compare prices... any other ideas will be very helpful. thanks anyways ...

If I'm on xp for operating system is it ok for me to install an earlier version of my sound card like say windows 2000 or something like that earlier version of software not never updated one on to my operating stystem XP does not like it I've been to lots of forum sites and still nothing. Got lots of usefull info if any needs to ask. I hate this no sound thing XP does not like my sound card.

Or can it be just anything with the same Qualities? I need a 256MB stick for a Gateway Performance 1500...and apparently it uses "System specific memory". But it has the same features and specs as a Kingston Value RAM I found. Would that work?

I'm basically just going to look at the specifications of the different components that use power. I've thought of the monitor, graphics card, cpu and then just went blank. Can anybody tell me all the important components of a computer that consume power? Any help would be appreciated.

Personally I like Windows wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more then macs. And I think they most certainly are better then Mac unless you want to use the mac for graphic design.

Anyway I'm gathering reasons for why Windows are better then mac. Can you fellow windows users out there tell me what you like more about windows then mac.

I've used both but I like Windows better. :)

I have an EVGA e-GeForce 8800 Ultra 768MB (superclocked) @ £404 - [ http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-032-EA&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=877 ] and I was thinking of buying another one to get SLi, but then I saw the ATi HD 2900 XT 1024MB Silent Pipe @ £270 - [ http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-062-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=922 ], and it had much better specs, but which one should I go for if I want the best gaming experiance?

i have Compaq C563TU laptop and want to connect it to my TV so that I could use the TV as a display unit (monitor). The laptop has a 7 pin S-Video port so i bought a 7 pin S-Video converter and plugged it to the port.. But when I connected the video (RCA) jack to the TV and the other end to the converter and switched the TV to Video input there was no display!! :(

What do I do? Did I miss anything??

Hi, I already had one SATA hard drive in my PC and I needed to install another. So I bought an OEM SATA HD, attached the SATA cable to the motherboard, attached the power cable as well, booted my computer up but it's only reading my original HD when I go into My Computer. My new HD isn't showing up at all. Have I missed anything out? I don't need to do anything with jumper settings on a SATA drive do I?

my computer keeps hanging but it boots well and goes to desktop well too, after several mins. or an hour it hangs and the numlock or capslock doesnt response when i hit them. i reformatted it several times but the same problem occured i used to think the problem was the hard disk so i tried another one reformatt the another hard disk but it hangs too, whats the problem with my computer? is it power supply? the memory? the motherboard? or the processor? pls. help me figure it out. tnx..

I've been given a USB memory key with some assorted documentation on it (about 50 MB of PDF files). Now I \ve read it all, I want to re-use the key for my own data. But my PC (running XP) sees it as CD drive. Clicking on its icon it comes up as Drive E, CD-rom. Free space 0, total memory 50MB. File system CDFS.
I have the impression that the USB key has somehow been "closed". It is impossible to erase data or record new data. There is no switch on it to block recording or erasing.
Any ideas?

hi thank you all who answeredmy previous ?..now i face another one...by trying to solve the last problem abt ram&agp and i removed the battry on the board to clear cmos...now wen i start Pc it shows Cmos Checksum Bad...and Cmos Date/Time NotSet F1 to run set up & F2 to load default setup...but the default set up does not work...i solved the Date/Time problem.but the Checksum Bad i can't..plz help me out....i use an asus p5vdcmx mother board...

I understand that you don’t want to remove anything that the computer is actively talking to, but if it's just connected, receiving enough power to light the lights on it, removing it without "Safely Removing" shouldn’t mess it up, right?

I have just been to a shopping complex that specialises in selling computers and computer peripherals. You will be able to get anything you want for computers. This ranged from the complete desktop systems and the laptop systems to motherboards, harddisks, RJ45 wires and NIC cards.

I patronised one of the shops selling these products and what I saw amazes me. In it was piled high with products such as motherboards, computer casings and smaller items such as desktop hard disks and thub drive. It also sells RJ45 wires and floppy disks.

Why do you think the shop is stacked high with computer peripherals? These are not the normal computer products sort after by the average man in the street. They are computer parts, used mainly by computer technicians and computer manufacturers.

Who do you think buy such products? Do you think the average man in the street will buy a motherboard? In fact, I calculated that should I assemble a computer with parts acquired from the shop, it will cause more than a desktop I acquired from a computer shop.

In fact, it is not the only shop that does this. Many other shops in the shopping complex also do such similar businesses.

Who do you think they hope to sell their peripherals to?
