I have just been to a shopping complex that specialises in selling computers and computer peripherals. You will be able to get anything you want for computers. This ranged from the complete desktop systems and the laptop systems to motherboards, harddisks, RJ45 wires and NIC cards.

I patronised one of the shops selling these products and what I saw amazes me. In it was piled high with products such as motherboards, computer casings and smaller items such as desktop hard disks and thub drive. It also sells RJ45 wires and floppy disks.

Why do you think the shop is stacked high with computer peripherals? These are not the normal computer products sort after by the average man in the street. They are computer parts, used mainly by computer technicians and computer manufacturers.

Who do you think buy such products? Do you think the average man in the street will buy a motherboard? In fact, I calculated that should I assemble a computer with parts acquired from the shop, it will cause more than a desktop I acquired from a computer shop.

In fact, it is not the only shop that does this. Many other shops in the shopping complex also do such similar businesses.

Who do you think they hope to sell their peripherals to?

Didn't you know that there are now so many itchy upgraders out there because they quickly find out that the PC they bought sucks? Outside NA, many stores accept custombuilding. You fill out a checklist of the parts you want. They check the stocks and put it all out for you to inspect. Sometimes you can watch them assemble it quickly or you could come back the next day to pick your PC.
And there are also lots of PC enthusiasts who keep on adding/upgrading peripherals. Now that's the reason why my PC shack is a real mess.

A LOT of people build their own PC to get the PC THEY WANT, not the PC some saleman tells them they want.

Believe me, I've been top computer fairs in London and other places with entire sports halls piled high with equipment, and much of it sells in a single saturday.

There are more people do upgrades and self builds than you think.

Technically I've had the same PC for 12 years now, but in that time the upgrades have replaced everything at least 3 times, just not all at once.
